Damaged, Mutilated And Left For Dead, This Dog Is Changing The World
Think of a time when you played a game of darts when you had an adrenaline rush to hit your target. Ready yourself, drawback, and fly that dart to hit the target hard!
Then imagine yourself at a shooting range, and your main goal is to hit that target over and over, and over again. Ready, aim, fire, fire, fire!
Now imagine the condition of those targets after being hit over and over, and over, and over again! Picture the condition of those targets, torn up, battered and mutilated.
This is the story about a maimed, damaged, wounded, and mutilated target called Maggie the underdog.
Maggie, once a fun-loving, happy, and jovial pup, had her life interrupted by many horrifying encounters of cruelty, acts of brutality, and merciless treatment that was reflected in her physical condition when she was rescued from the Beirut streets of Lebanon.
Her rescuer, Hussein, was contacted by a friend who found Maggie, and asked Hussein to help this severely mistreated pup. Once Hussein retrieved Maggie, he assessed her condition, which included the following:
- She was starved.
- Her eyes were glued shut by an infection.
- There were only craters where eyes should be.
- Her jaw was broken.
- Her left ear was savagely removed.
- She had tiny pellets lodged inside of her.
- She was pregnant.
- She had a few broken teeth.
- She had tiny lumps, and bumps from bullets presumed to have been shot by strangers.
- It was difficult for Maggie to walk because she was shot in the leg.
- She had intense trauma, was terrified, and skittish of people for fear of being further abused.
Hussein knew that in order for Maggie to survive the cruel treatment she endured, it would require numerous veterinarian treatments and operations that he could not afford. So, Hussein had to make a difficult decision to euthanize her, as some recommended, or to seek further assistance to save her.
Live or Die
Hussein sought help for Maggie through postings to rescue groups. His postings met with success when it caught the eye of a woman, named Roxanna from the UK, and she, Kasey Carlin and the Wild at Heart Foundation got Maggie to the UK.
Maggie’s story melted the heart of Kasey Carlin, and Maggie’s incredible journey to recovery is captured in a book that Kasey wrote titled, “The Miraculous Life of Maggie the Wunderdog.”
In Kasey’s book, it details how Maggie and Kasey attained fame by their service to others.
Kasey shared Maggie’s incredible healing journey to happiness on the UK’s “This Morning” program.
The many reviews of Kasey Carlin’s book also reveal her genuine kindness and care for dogs, even in “insurmountable’ cases. When you read this story, you will feel the sadness of what Maggie endured, travel the road these two took towards building trust between themselves and then share the many joys of success among the trials.
Watch Maggie’s story.
Kasey has said of Maggie, “She will walk at heel if I tell her to, but, generally, she’s right out front, showing the world what she’s got.”
Kasey is a great humanitarian and a wonderful example to the world!
