It is quite difficult for senior and special needs dogs to find their forever homes because they are generally seen as less adoptable. However, there are some animal rescue organizations out there who are trying to help these canines find suitable homes.
Recently, an automobile organization, Subaru, has stepped up its efforts to find homes for thousands of dogs who have been living at animal shelters for extended times. The company has started a special campaign to get as many canines adopted as possible. The organization not only wants people to adopt homeless dogs, but they also want everyone to show extra love to their special needs canines already living with them.
Subaru’s interest in working for the welfare of shelter dogs is not new. The automotive company first initiated a charitable program in 2008 and started giving a portion of their sales to different charities. Subaru noticed that most of their customers nominated animal welfare organizations for the donations, and since then, Subaru has been showing a keen interest in involving canine in its promotional and charitable activities.
The company has been featuring dogs in many of its advertisements. It has also designated October as the month to focus its attention on helping canines. During October, the organization holds dog adoption events in its showrooms all over the country. Starting from last year, Subaru also initiated the “Make a Dog’s Day” event in October to convince people to adopt all those less adoptable canines they come across in their lives.
Since 2015, Subaru has been able to get more than 230,000 dogs adopted. The company has also made donations of over $28 million to ASPCA. The company continues to make contributions to improve the lives of the dogs who are in need of help.
More and more companies should initiate projects similar to those of Subaru so that shelter animals can experience a positive change in their lives.
