Inmates Train Miracle Dogs
Little did the inmates of a maximum-security prison know one year ago how valuable their work behind bars would be.
It all started when the NY National Guard requested service dogs to visit their troops. The dogs first visited the troops, and then they were taken to nurses on the frontline.
The frontline recipients, nurses, discovered the dogs deeply touched them and knew just what to do to make them smile, and calm their emotional stress from hours of servicing COVID19 patients.
The program known as Puppies Behind Bars began a year ago in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility just north of New York City. The dedicated inmates trained and tirelessly worked with the puppies until the dogs could follow at least one hundred commands.
Watch this amazing story that focuses on many levels of heroes: inmates, dogs, military, nurses, and all other first responders.
