While vaccines have been deployed across different countries, many governments still instruct their citizens to wear face masks. This is not only to help people protect themselves from the COVID-19 virus but also to keep from spreading it to others.
In India, wearing masks has become more important than ever due to the second wave of the COVID-19 virus. And amidst the pandemic in the said country, a heartwarming video became viral because of a homeless man’s kindness to his dog — he gave his only face mask to his furry friend!
Protecting the pup from the virus
In the viral video, a homeless man was carrying his dog on his back. Aside from the dog’s comfortable position, netizens noticed that he was wearing a surgical mask. His owner, on the other hand, was walking with a bare and unprotected face. While it was seemingly irresponsible, people were quick to forgive the homeless man for what he did.
The man, whose name was Mohan Lal Chauhan, was asked why he wasn’t wearing a mask. Mohan replied by saying that while he might die, he wouldn’t let Bhuru, his dog, perish. The man explained that he had been raising the dog since he was a little puppy, even saying that Buhru was like his own child.
It seemed that Mohan really loved his pup.
People online were teary-eyed
The heartwarming video was heavily circulated on different social media platforms. It received lots of likes, reactions, and positive comments.
For instance, it had more than 490K likes on Instagram. One commenter on the same platform wished the man peace. Others just commented heart and teary-eyed emojis, signifying that they were touched by the man’s gesture. Some told the man to take care of himself, too.
Sentiments on YouTube were also positive. One said that people like Mohan are the hope of humanity.
