It’s a well-known fact that pets are often prohibited from entering soccer stadiums. Regardless of how much a person adores their dog or cat, they are not permitted to bring them to the stadium to watch a game, much less join the players. As a result, when a dog appeared on the soccer field at Potos, Bolivia’s Hernando Siles Stadium, he instantly went viral.
With a soccer cleat in his mouth, Cachito infiltrated the game between The Strongest and Nacional Potos. The playful dog seemed to be having a good time as he raced around happily wagging his tail and then passionately chewed the cleat.
For three minutes straight, the dog stole the limelight. He was carried off the pitch by the home team’s defensive midfielder, Raúl Castro, also known as “Chacha” and “El Comandante,” just after the referee halted play for a few seconds. Even though his display was brief, it was instrumental in him winning the hearts of all the players and their fans worldwide.
However, that was not the end of the tale. Just two days later, the beloved doggo was spotted on the streets in appalling condition. He was struck by a car. Fortunately, Cachito was quickly taken in by a shelter in Chasquipampa, La Paz, where he was reunited with an old friend.
According to Raúl, he was undergoing a procedure when he spotted a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. After ascertaining that it was indeed Cachito, he promptly made a deposit for the dog’s medical care and vowed to return to adopt him after completing his next match – which he did.
Raúl also retained the name “Cachito” given to the two-year-old dog by his adoring fans. Cachito had met an incredible owner as a result of his own courage and positive personality.
