We could not reiterate more how important it is to have a dog for a friend. Whether you’re a canine, feline, or hooman, it always pays to have a friend, especially when you’re in need.
Golden Retriever Laker suffers from what vets call motor seizures. Laker’s been diagnosed with this disease since he was six months old, and has then maintained taking medications.
His sister, a Catahoula Cur named Roxy is aware of her brother’s condition. The seizures would take place anytime and would stop almost just as quickly as they started.
Roxy is such a protective sister, and Laker is fortunate to have her as his guardian. Their owners would come to appreciate Roxy’s protective nature even more when they installed a camera.
It looked like a regular day with the pets peacefully sleeping in the living area. That calmness didn’t last long because of the sleeping Laker’s sudden seizure.
The poor boy panicked and got up, and fortunately, Roxy was right there with him. She ran to her sibling, hugged him, and then lay on the floor until the tremors subsided.
We could tell that Laker’s super thankful to his big sis for doing that. When those tremors attack, it’s easy to get disoriented and make sense of anything at all.
A loving hug and support from someone we know sometimes make all the difference. It’s usually the only thing keeping us from a complete breakdown, so thank goodness for good friends.
Roxy’s owners say that she’s an extra protective dog, so they’re not surprised she did this for her brother. We bet Laker tries his best to go above and beyond to help his sister in any way he can.
Excellent work, Roxy! Thanks for being a great example to everyone. Your little family there is fortunate to have you as their pet and friend. Laker, buddy, hang in there and know that you’re loved!
