One great thing about canines is that they bypass any differences they encounter whenever they establish a friendship with other animals. Whether these animals have wings, fins, horns, or are way bigger than them, they would immediately befriend these animals whenever their heart says so. Incredible, right?
Like this story of a dog who has established a friendship with an animal that is not usually associated with it: an Emu.
Emu is actually the second biggest bird species in the world, just next to its cousin, the Ostrich. Emu can grow up to 1.9 meters in height, and just like the Ostrich, it is flightless by nature but has slender legs to bolt around. The next thing that we should know about an Emu is, would it be an ideal pet?
That’s what Sue Holmes wants to find out when she brought a black-and-white Emu chick to her home. Emee was the name she chose for the new member of her family. But aside from having a new home and family, Emee would also have a brand new best friend, but it would not be a fellow bird like her, but a dog!
Sue Holmes’ dog, named Molly, was the first animal in their home, and she immediately introduced the newly arrived feather ball to him. At first, Molly seems to show no interest in the bird and prefers to go straight to Sue and ask for some love. But Emee was determined to make friends with the dog and flexed her “Emu skills” to catch his attention.
In a video clip posted by Sue on her Facebook page, it can be seen that Emee was trying her best to catch Molly’s attention. She did her hilarious “Emu roll,” “Emu run,” and “Emu peck” to impress the dog. This hilarious video had garnered millions of views and additional hundreds of thousands of views when it was reuploaded on YouTube by ‘NovedadesES.’
According to Sue, the two animals eventually became best friends and are now inseparable from each other, and she was more than happy to see them grow just like that. Through their friendship, the fur ‘n feather duo proved that significant differences should not prevent anyone from establishing friendships with each other. Indeed, there’s no better day to learn it than today.
