Dogs are hunters by nature. Some of them are specially bred for hunting purposes. They have amazing abilities that make them effective in their jobs. This includes their speed, quick reflexes, and their fierceness.
As a dog owner, maybe you’ve seen your pooch reacting to the presence of small creatures, such as birds. A lot of dogs tend to try to catch them: however, many times the chase ends with a dead bird as a result. It’s just their instincts working. But there is this one dog that has mastered his reflexes and can gently catch a bird and release it.
The amazing dog in this story is a Labrador-Pyrenees mix that is named Gus. Gus is not the fastest, quickest, or strongest dog, but he makes up for it for his incredible ability to control his bite strength. He is a very gentle dog that loves all creatures. As a retriever, Gus knows exactly how gentle his bite should be when picking up or carrying things.
This includes the occasional bird he catches that gets trapped inside their house. According to his mom, Jennifer Ahlberg, they often leave their porch door open when it is a sunny day. This is to allow more fresh air to circulate around the house. And there are times when birds fly inside and get trapped.
The birds would flap and fly on their ceiling, looking for a way out. This was when she noticed that Gus would try to help them out. Using his quick reflexes, he would jump and catch the birds. He would then carry them outside and set them free. Amazingly, Gus would catch them gently, avoiding any injuries or accidental death.
Gus has done this several times already, and Jennifer was able to capture one of these moments on her camera. The proud mom posted the video online, and it has gone viral. Many have commented on how good Gus is and praising him for helping out the trapped birds. Check out the video for yourself.
