Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas in 2019. It was a strong one and caused a lot of devastation in the area. Because of this tragedy, a man named Douglas Thron wanted to help out.
One day he was out in one of the affected areas, but it was difficult for him to move around because of all the debris.
He then used a drone to see if there was someone left under all that rummage. He can see the devastation that the hurricane caused. Douglas felt that he was needed there.
True enough, he found something move under all the garbage. He then discovered that it was a dog. This dog needed his help.
That same day he was able to rescue the dog, and he was only the first of many. Douglas knew that these dogs would not be located on foot, which means his drone will be of big help. Douglas thought it would be easier to find more canines if he could put an infrared camera on his drone.
With this in mind, Douglas went back to California to get an infrared camera. He then flew back to the Bahamas to put his equipment to use. It proved to be very effective because they found many animals, and they were able to rescue them because of it.
Douglas went to the Bahamas about five more times before he went to Australia. He went there to help locate animals during the forest fire. His quick thinking was a big help in rescuing all these affected animals.
If not for him, they would still be out there with no food and no water. If not for his equipment, the rescue crew will never be able to pinpoint their exact locations. There can do so because of Douglas. These canines and other animals have him to thank for saving their lives.
